Thoughtfactory’s Notebooks: experiments + journeys

brief notes on

an experiment

An experiment to see how blog platforms change the original file.

Below  is Mark Daragh's 5x4 image of a dead  grass tree  (Xanthorrhoea australis) that he  submitted to the View Camera Australia's   April 2026 online exhibition.  The 5x4 image  was exposed on Fujifilm's Provia, which is a professional-grade, daylight-balanced color reversal (slide) film known for its exceptional versatility, fine grain, and accurate, vivid color reproduction.

If you scroll down VCA's  blog page you can see  Mark's  image in the online exhibition.

This is what the image  looked like in the online exhibition.

Something has definitely gone wrong. The image has been so de-saturated. that it has been drained of the rich colour of the Provia file.

In contrast the Posthaven publishing system  retains the richness of the Provia file.
